  • What is Entune?
    Entune 7 encompasses the complete audio display stack of your vehicle - including Bluetooth® 8, voice recognition, USB 11, AUX port, and your display screen. On select models equipped with premium audio head units, you have access to navigation and a rich set of Apps and Data Services, now referred to as the “Entune® App Suite” 7.
  • Can Entune® App Suite applications be used while driving?
    All applications are accessible when in Park.
    BingTM's point of interests searching can operate while driving using voice recognition.
    iHeartRadio and Pandora® can be operated while driving. Preset selections are available. However, you cannot edit or create new stations or playlists within these applications. For example, you can pick an existing Pandora® station while driving; however, creating a new station is not allowed. allows limited viewing of theaters and movie times. You can also call and map the theater.
    OpenTable® allows you to view restaurant addresses and upcoming reservations. You can also call the restaurant, map the restaurant or cancel reservations.
  • Will Entune® App Suite connect wirelessly to my phone and provide control of the applications on my mobile phone?
    Yes, Entune® App Suite will provide control of all the application functions for most phones including in-vehicle displays, controls, and data retrieval. The data stream is conducted wirelessly between the mobile phone and the multimedia system when it is paired using Bluetooth® 8 technology. Select phones, such as the iPhone® 10, will require a USB cable to use Entune® App Suite. However, you must launch the Entune® App Suite application on your mobile phone. Entune® App Suite will lock you out of the application on your phone and operate from the in-vehicle controls.
  • What can I control with Entune® App Suite when my phone is USB-connected?
    Entune® App Suite does not control any apps on your phone except for the Entune® App Suite app itself. Therefore, when your phone is connected, you can use any app on your phone with the exception of the Entune® App Suite app. The Entune® App Suite app is locked out while the phone is connected, so use the in-vehicle controls instead.
  • Which data services are included with Entune® App Suite?
    These data services are included with Entune® App Suite7 access:
    Fuel prices – You can find local fuel prices and add the fueling station as a destination in your navigation 15 system.
    Sports Scores – You can track your favorite team sports (MLB®, NHL®, NBA, NFL).
    Stocks – You can store your favorite companies and keep up on their stock prices and news.
    Traffic – You can see traffic conditions displayed on your navigation 15 screen to plan alternate routes.
    Weather – You can see the weather in your local area and review multi-day forecasts.
  • How will I get information updates on weather, sports, stocks and traffic? SMS text?
    The information is available on the navigation 15 screen or through the Entune® App Suite mobile app on your phone.
  • What weather information do I get?
    HD Data Weather 14, which is available on select 2014 model year vehicles, provides up-to-date multi-day local weather forecast information as well as weather forecasts for select national cities.

    In addition, if your vehicle is equipped with navigation (Entune Premium Audio, Entune Premium JBL Audio), a Weather Doppler map can be accessed on the vehicle's display screen.
  • How does the Toyota Entune® App Suite 7 system update?
    The Entune® App Suite 7 system is designed so that the mobile handset can wirelessly send some updates to the Entune® App Suite 7 multi-media system “over the air” using Bluetooth® 8 and cellular data. The Entune® App Suite 7 app notifies customers when an over-the-air update is available. Other updates to the Entune 7 Audio system may require a direct update using a USB flash drive.
  • Will it be obsolete when my car is five years old?
    We recognize that a new vehicle is a big investment, and technology is always changing and improving. Toyota created a flexible and adaptable system that offers upgrades for applications, services and mobile devices.
  • Will it be compatible with phones introduced two or three years from now?
    Toyota Entune® App Suite’s software platform is flexible and adaptable to future technologies. It can be upgraded and used with most smartphones with a data plan. We will make regular announcements about new supported phones as they come to market.
  • What Traffic information do I get?
    HD Data Traffic 14, which is available on select 2014 model year vehicles, provides up-to-date traffic flow information on your vehicle's display screen.
  • Why is Toyota using HD Data for Traffic and Weather?
    With HD Data 14, Toyota drivers will be able to receive Traffic and Weather data services without a subscription. HD Traffic Data 14 is available in the top 100 US metros (and growing) in the US., covering a road network of over 225,000 miles. And, with a paired and registered App Suite-enabled smartphone, customers can continue to receive Traffic information when the vehicle is out of HD Data 14 range, via their cellular connections.

    When the Entune 7 system utilizes the customer's smartphone to provide traffic information to the vehicle, the customer is responsible for cellular data charges that incur.
  • Do I have to make a payment or get a subscription to get Traffic and Weather services?
    No, you do not need a subscription to receive Traffic and Weather services within HD Data 14 coverage areas. If you choose to pair your smartphone, your App Suite subscription and data plan will allow you to access these services outside of HD 14 coverage areas, and cellular data charges will apply.
  • Do I need to pair a phone with my vehicle navigation system or sign into my Entune app to be able to use Traffic and Weather data services?
    In all areas where you have HD Data 14 coverage, you do not need a paired phone or an App Suite subscription to be able to use Traffic and Weather services. However, outside of HD Data 14 coverage, pairing your App Suite-enabled smartphone with your vehicle allows you to continue to receive these services uninterrupted, provided you have an active cellular data connection and have registered for Entune App Suite 7. You will be responsible for all cellular data charges that incur.
  • How do I know if I am within HD Data coverage and am getting Traffic and Weather via HD Data?
    If you are in HD Data 14 coverage, you will see a HD icon 14 in the top left corner of your Navigation screen. If you do not see this icon, you will not be able to receive HD Data 14 at that time.
  • How do I get Traffic and Weather data in areas where there is no HD Data coverage?
    If you are out of HD Data 14 coverage, you can continue to seamlessly receive Traffic and Weather data provided you have paired your Entune App Suite-enabled smartphone with your vehicle and you have registered for Entune App Suite 7, and you have an active cellular data connection. You will be responsible for all cellular data charges that incur.

    This additional traffic and weather coverage is available on Navigation equipped vehicles.
  • Will Traffic and Weather data impact my cellular data plan or any charges?
    If you are using Traffic and Weather services via a paired Bluetooth® 8 phone and you are outside of HD Data 14 coverage, the Entune 7 system will provide traffic and weather information to the vehicle's display screen via your cellular phone. Cellular data charges will apply.

    If desired, you can disable this feature from your vehicle's display screen to prevent any cellular data charges from incurring.
  • How do I prevent my phone's cellular connection or data plan being used to download Traffic and Weather data, when my phone is paired to my vehicle?
    In your vehicle navigation system, you have the option to set the data source for Traffic and Weather to be either 'HD Only' or 'HD & Cellular'. HD Data 14 will always be used where available. If you choose 'HD Only', you can prevent your phone's cellular data connection by being used when you are outside an HD Data 14 coverage area. You can access the option via your system's home screen, then to setup, and finally scroll over to HD Data 14 and select your preference.
  • Why am I not able to scroll through or zoom into the traffic map on my vehicle's traffic application?
    If you are not able to scroll through or zoom into the traffic map, this is because your vehicle is not equipped with Navigation. The Entune Audio Plus in your vehicle has the ability to display traffic via a static, non-zoom able/scrollable map without the need of a navigation system. The map displayed to you still provides up-to-date traffic information that is refreshed every 15 minutes.
  • How often is the Traffic and Weather data refreshed?
    For Navigation-equipped vehicles, HD Data 14 traffic is updated every 5 minutes, Weather Forecast data is updated every 1 hour and Weather Doppler data is updated every 10 minutes.

    If your vehicle does not have navigation, traffic data is updated every 15 minutes, and weather forecast data is updated every 1 hour.
  • Is Safety Connect® incorporated into Entune® App Suite, or is it separate?
    Safety Connect® 22, 23 is a separate product offering enhanced security and safety services. Entune® App Suite 7 integrates multimedia applications and data services through your mobile handset to enhance your in-vehicle experience.
  • Why isn’t the system linked to vehicle diagnostics?
    At this time, Toyota Entune® App Suite 7 is a mobile handset-based application that delivers information and entertainment services to the vehicle. We are constantly looking to add new services and applications our customers desire and are studying vehicle diagnostic integration.
  • Toyota has had Telematics in place for some time, like Safety Connect® and Lexus Enform®. Can you tell us what customer information and data is shared with other companies?
    Customer information is only available to business partners to facilitate usage of the Toyota and Lexus Telematics services. With Safety Connect® 22, 23 and Lexus Enform®, we never know the customer's location unless the customer uses the services. For example, if an airbag deploys and the Safety Connect® 22, 23 hardware is turned on, the vehicle sends its location to the emergency call center. Another example is if the customer presses the SOS button and requests medical help; the vehicle automatically sends its location to the emergency call center. Toyota does not track a vehicle unless the specific service of "stolen vehicle location" is turned on, and this requires the customer to file a stolen vehicle police report. Upon receipt of a valid police report, we will track and provide the vehicle location only to the police. When the customer's subscription expires, we will remotely turn off the Telematics hardware after we have notified the customer. Once the Safety Connect® 22, 23 hardware is turned off, it will not function at all (i.e., it will not send any data or connect to the cellular network) until it is reactivated. Toyota cannot remotely reactivate the hardware; this action must be initiated by the customer.
  • How secure is the system? Is it vulnerable to hacking?
    The mobile app is secure, as it requires a connection back to Toyota servers. Anti-hacking measures beyond the app, such as on the mobile handset, are outside of Toyota’s control. The security of the system is extremely important to us. We will not allow any apps to appear on the system that are not on the access control list. The system will not take/accept any apps that are not approved by Toyota’s access control list. The system also uses IP security used for the Web today.
  • What is the risk of catching a virus during downloading of the mobile application?
    In general, mobile phones are not targeted for viruses and malware the way personal computers are. Nevertheless, Toyota recommends downloading the Entune® App Suite 7 app only from trusted sources to reduce any risk to the phone. Because Entune® App Suite 7 is a closed system, there is no risk of a viral infection of the vehicle’s electronics.
