How do I use the Toyota App to rent a Toyota?
The Rent a Toyota feature within the Toyota App is available at the following participating dealers:
- If you are a Toyota owner, on your Toyota app home screen, tap on the ‘Find’ option on the bottom
navigation bar. Select the Rentals Card to start or manage a rental reservation.
- If you are a non-Toyota owner, select the Rentals card on your home screen to start or manage a rental
reservation.
- You will be able to select a pick-up location, date/time, vehicle, and upload your driver details.
Device Info: Is the app available on all devices?
All Android devices and iPhones equipped with the latest OS are eligible to download the Toyota app. Visit
your device’s app store to download the latest version of the Toyota app.
The Toyota app is not available on the web, as it is intended for use on smartphones and tablets. Use of
desktops or laptops to access the Toyota app is not recommended.
Login Info: How do I login to the Toyota app for the first time?
- Download the Toyota app from the App Store® or Google Play™
- Follow the prompts to create your Toyota app account. Click on Register and provide your first name,
last
name, e-mail, mobile number and create a password.
- For Toyota owners, add your Toyota VIN. For non-Toyota owners skip this step.
- Sign in using the credentials created in step 2

Profile: What information is required in my Toyota app profile?
If you have already accessed the Toyota app, your profile is already setup. To complete a rental reservation
in the Toyota app, you will need to provide valid driver details. You also have the option to upload your
driver’s license and insurance information to save time at the counter.
If you are downloading the app for the first time, you will be guided through a series of steps to create an
account and you will be asked to enter your vehicle’s VIN number. For non-Toyota owners, you do not have to
add any vehicle (no VIN). You can directly tap on Rentals option to start creating your reservation.
Profile and Security:
1. Is the rental vehicle equipped with connected services? If so, how are they used?
Toyota Connected Services Privacy and Protection Notice.
Your rental vehicle may wirelessly transmit location, driving, and vehicle health data to provide Connected
Services and for internal research and data analysis. Connected Services include the use of this vehicle data
to respond to emergencies, navigation assistance, and/or to activate remote services.
We also collect and use your personal information to facilitate your usage of Connected Services, fulfill your
requests, and to manage our relationship with you.

2. What privacy rights are customers entitled to under CCPA (California Only)?
California Consumers
Effective January 1, 2020, the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA) gives you certain privacy rights
related to your personal information which are in addition to any privacy rights set forth in the Toyota
Privacy Statement and Privacy Notice for Connected Services. Please visit the Toyota California Privacy Policy
for additional information.
Rental Options: Is the Toyota app required to reserve a Toyota rental vehicle in
advance?
Using the mobile Toyota app is suggested but not required. If you prefer, you can also call the nearest
participating Toyota dealership to schedule service or rent a vehicle. The Toyota app provides a quicker and
easier option.

Eligibility: Are there age restrictions on the person renting the Toyota?
Yes. You must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license to rent a Toyota vehicle. Check with
individual dealers for exact age requirements, as this answer varies based on state laws.
Eligibility: Are there any other requirements besides the age restriction?
You need to provide the driver’s first name, last name, a valid e-mail address, and phone number to reserve a
vehicle through the Rent a Toyota program.
If you are booking the reservation for yourself, this information is pre-populated. In case you are booking
the reservation for someone else, you would have to provide the first name, last name, valid e-mail address,
and phone number of the person you are booking the reservation for.
You also have the option to upload your driver’s license and insurance information within the Toyota App to
save time at the counter. However, at the time of vehicle pick-up, you need to present a valid driver's
license and insurance for verification.
Proof of full coverage insurance that will transfer to the rental vehicle will be required at the time of
rental.
The driver would have to provide a credit or debit card in their own name to rent a vehicle once they arrive
at the dealership.
Notes about licenses:
- A valid license from the renter's state of residence or country of origin is required (i.e., must not be
expired, must not have any restrictions).
- An international driving permit or license is acceptable but is not required.
- A military license is acceptable, as long as it is accompanied by the renter's state of residence
license,
as well as proof that the renter is on active duty.
- A learner's permit is not an acceptable license.
- A temporary license, permit or application for a driver's license may be acceptable.
Always check with your local Department of Motor Vehicles to verify that such paperwork is valid and has
not
expired.
- Some states will hold a driver's license after a ticket has been issued by police. This ticket is not
acceptable.
Eligibility: Am I eligible to rent a Toyota using the Toyota app?
Yes, both Toyota owners and non-owners are able to rent vehicles using the Rent a Toyota app.

How do I return a Toyota rental vehicle?
Return the vehicle to the dealership you rented from.
The dealership name is found on the Rentals Landing Page, under your reservation (whether in the Active or
Upcoming Tab) in your Toyota app. Upon clicking your active or upcoming reservation, the complete dealer
address will be displayed on your Reservation Summary Page.
A Toyota customer service team member will complete check-out procedures with you when you arrive.
Will I be responsible for fuel and tolls?
Re-fueling is encouraged but optional. If you skip it, the dealership will charge for the difference in fuel
(in accordance with the rental agreement).
Upon finishing check-out, your reservation will end, and you will receive a receipt directly from the
dealership.
When can I pick-up and drop-off my Toyota rental vehicle?
Normal operating hours vary by dealer. The available pick-up and drop-off times will display in the Toyota App
based on dealer availability.
For special accommodations outside of our normal operating hours, please contact the dealership directly.
How can I arrange for pick-up/drop-off?
Pick-up and drop-off services are offered on a per dealer basis. If
booking
through the Toyota app, the
dealership will assume that you have transportation to the dealership to pick up the Toyota rental
vehicle.
If you are unable to get transportation to the Toyota dealership, please open your Toyota app to find contact
details for your dealership.
If you notify the dealership of your situation prior to your arrival, the dealership will communicate whether
they can accommodate your request. If offered, special pick-up instructions will be sent to you via email
prior to your arrival.

How do I view, modify, extend, or cancel a reservation?
To view your existing reservations, if you are a Toyota owner, first open
the Toyota app, then tap on the ‘Find’ option on the bottom navigation
bar and click on the Rentals Card.
If you are a non-Toyota owner, first open the Toyota app, then tap on the Rentals Card.
Your current and upcoming reservations would be displayed under
the Active and Upcoming Tabs respectively. To view details of your past reservations, tap the Past Tab.
If you need to modify an upcoming reservation, select the applicable
reservation under the Upcoming Tab and
tap on the Edit button under the displayed Reservation Summary. Click the pencil icon next to the selections
you want to modify like dealership, date and time, and vehicle.
- Tapping the pencil icon next to the Vehicle Details and/or the Date/Time Details will allow you to
re-select
the Vehicle Details and/or the Date/Time Details for your upcoming reservation.
- You would have to select new pick-up dates/ drop-off dates, vehicle, based on dealership availability.
- Tapping the pencil icon next to the Driver Information Card will allow you to modify your (or someone
else’s) driver details
NOTE: Same day rental modifications are dependent upon dealer availability.
- If you choose to modify pick-up/drop-off date and time, you will also be asked to reselect a vehicle
because
vehicle availability is subject to change based on daily inventory
- You will not be charged for modifying a reservation in the Toyota app
If you wish to modify an active reservation, please call your selected dealership directly. Once the
dealership modifies your active reservation, the changes will be reflected on your Toyota app.
Your reservation will be modified, and your total charges will be updated to reflect any changes to the cost
of your reservation. Modifications are subject to availability.
To cancel a reservation, navigate to the Rentals Landing Page, find the
upcoming reservation that you would
like to cancel, and select it
- On the bottom of the Reservation Summary Page, tap ‘Cancel’
- A dialogue box will pop-up asking you to confirm if you wish to cancel your reservation
- Tap the ‘Yes, Cancel’ button
You will not be charged for cancelling a reservation in the Toyota App, even if the reservation is less
than 24 hours from the reserved pick-up time
You may cancel or modify your reservation at any time without penalties or a cancellation fee.
Note: If the dealership needs to cancel, they will call/email you at least
24 hours prior to your pick-up time
notifying you of your options. You will receive a notification in this scenario.
Are Rent a Toyota rates competitive with other rental agencies?
Yes. Toyota dealers are committed to satisfying current and prospective Toyota owners. We are able to provide
very competitive rates since the vehicle and the facility are part of an existing Toyota dealership. Check
with your local Rent a Toyota dealer for exact rates.
How will the Toyota app communicate with me?
Toyota app communicates directly with customers in two ways: inside the app and via email.
The Toyota app will communicate via email to provide reservation
confirmations, and if applicable, receipt for
successful modification/cancellation and total charges.
Note: Depending on the location for which you have booked, we may contact
you directly via your mobile number
(phone, email or text) during or near the time of your rental to confirm pick-up and drop-off schedules.
How far in advance must I make my reservation?
All Rent a Toyota dealers will allow you to make a rental reservation for the next day, if vehicles are
available at the dealership.
Some Toyota dealers may allow same day rental reservations via the Toyota app while others may not. In such a
case please contact the dealership directly.
Can I schedule pick-up / drop-off outside of normal operating hours?
The Toyota app is configured to only allow pick-up / drop-off during normal dealership operating hours. Hours
of operation vary by dealership.
Note: Please check the specific location information for operating hours
and call the specific dealership
phone number, which can be found in the mobile app, to inquire about special pick-up and / or drop-off
arrangements outside normal hours.
Can I rent a Toyota by walking up rather than reserving online?
Dealerships can only accommodate walk-up requests, if they have vehicles available. Reserving your rental
vehicle online or through the Toyota App before your specified pick-up time notifies the dealer when you are
arriving. That way we can have your rental ready for you.
The Toyota app eliminates the hassle of spending time completing paperwork by providing you the option to
upload your driver’s license and insurance information prior to arrival.
How many miles are included in my rental?
Mileage limitations are subject to dealership rental agreement terms. Please inquire with the dealership if
you plan to take the vehicle out of state.
Can I add additional drivers in the Toyota app?
You can book a rental reservation for someone else through the Toyota app by providing their first name, last
name, a valid email address, and phone number. A valid driver’s license and insurance needs to be provided at
the time of pick-up for verification. The name on the rental reservation should match that on the driver’s
license and insurance.
Additional drivers cannot be added to your own rental reservation made through the Toyota app, but can be
added at the dealership at the time of vehicle pick-up and must present a valid driver’s license and
insurance. Please inform the dealership if you plan to add additional drivers to the rental agreement.
2. Locations and Location Information
Where do I go to retrieve my rental vehicle?
Your Toyota rental can be picked up directly at the dealership. See section above for questions related to
pick-up and drop-off.
Where do I find the dealership’s address inside of the Toyota app
The name of the Toyota dealership you are renting from can be found on the Rentals Landing Page, under the
Active or Upcoming Tab. Upon clicking your active or upcoming reservation, the complete dealer address will be
displayed on your reservation summary page.
Are there any geographical restrictions?
Your rental vehicle may be driven anywhere in the United States and Canada, as long as it is returned to the
same dealership you picked up from.
If the vehicle is driven off road, Toyota will be notified. Also, additional charges may be incurred.
Where do I go to return my rental vehicle?
Simply return the vehicle to the dealership you rented from.
The name of the Toyota dealership you are renting from can be found on the Rentals Landing Page, under the
Active or Upcoming Tab. Upon clicking your active or upcoming reservation, the complete dealer address will be
displayed on your Reservation Summary Page.
A Toyota customer service team member will complete check-out procedures with you when you arrive.
Can I rent a vehicle at one Toyota dealership and return it to another?
At this time the vehicle must be returned to the Rent a Toyota dealership where it was rented. Check with your
dealer about off-site pick-up services.
Can I rent from any Toyota dealership using the Toyota app?
The vast majority of Toyota dealerships have offered reasonably priced rental vehicles to our customers for
many generations through the Toyota website, thanks to their participation in ‘Rent a Toyota’.
We are in the process of launching a new app-based reservation feature with the Rent a Toyota program in the
United States to enhance the rental experience for our customers.

Can I buy the vehicle I am renting?
Absolutely. Most Rent a Toyota vehicles are available to purchase after their short four-month in-service
period. Please check with your dealer for details.
Can I take the vehicle I rented into Mexico or Canada?
Rent a Toyota vehicles are allowed in the continental United States and Canada. Rent a Toyota vehicles are not
covered in Mexico.
Will the Toyota app rental feature be available to all Toyota and non-Toyota Owners?
Yes.
3. Pricing, Payments, and Receipts
Does Toyota pre-authorize my credit card prior to rental?
No. You will not need to provide payment information until you arrive at the dealership to pick-up your
rental. Upon executing the rental agreement on site, you will be prompted to provide a credit card for
payment. A pre-authorized amount will be held at this time.
What methods of payment are accepted?
Toyota only accepts major credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.
The credit card must be in the same name as the driver of the rental.
How do I retrieve my receipt from a past rental?
For your convenience, your total charges post after the completion of your rental reservation and will be
displayed in the reservation summary under the Past tab in your Toyota app. A copy will also be emailed to
your registered email address.
Receipts are also managed by the dealership and can be emailed to you shortly after the return of your rental.
This receipt might contain additional charges like tolls, fuels, damages, etc.
If you are unable to view your total charges in your Toyota app, have questions about your receipts, or did
not receive one via email following your rental, please contact Toyota Customer Support or the dealership you

What is Toyota’s billing policy and grace period for returns past the reservation's scheduled return
time?
Toyota’s grace period is determined by the policy in place at the Toyota dealership you rent from. Your rental
period begins at the time you pick-up your rental. If you find you need to extend your rental and return later
than originally expected (i.e. an active reservation), you can call the dealership to do so.
Additional rate charges are subject to applicable taxes and fees.
If you have other questions about extending your rental or making other arrangements for vehicle return, feel
free to contact the dealership you rented from.
What is the price per day of a Toyota rental?
Pricing is dependent on the vehicle you choose to rent. Depending on the dealership, price per day per vehicle
is subject to change.
Are there any additional charges I should expect to incur from renting a Toyota through the Toyota
app?
There are no additional fees to make a rental reservation through the Toyota app, as well as no additional
fees for cancelling or modifying a reservation.
Additional expenses will be covered inside of the rental agreement that you sign at the dealership. Depending
on dealership location, you may be subject to recovery costs for fuel and tolls.
Do I need to bring my rental vehicle with a full tank of gas?
This decision is completely up to you. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than you began your trip
with, you will be subject to costs outlined within the terms of the rental agreement.
How is the estimated total calculated in the Toyota App?
The total charge provided when you create your reservation is only an estimate. The Toyota app estimates the
total charges based on number of days you choose to reserve, times the daily rate for the vehicle and the
vehicle class. This would also include estimated taxes.
Not included in the estimated rental price are optional fueling and any actual highway tolls you may incur on
your trip.
If applicable, additional taxes and fees can be found in the rental agreement when arriving at the
dealership.
Once you have returned your rented vehicle at the end of your rental reservation, you shall receive a receipt
of your total charges under the Invoice Tab in your Toyota app. You will also receive an email of your rental
receipt. Note: Not included in the estimated rental price are optional fueling and any actual highway tolls
you may incur on your trip.
Are any additional vehicle features offered at a premium?
Within the Toyota app itself you will not be able to choose any extras. We wish to keep the reservation
process within the app as simple and hassle-free as possible.
If you wish to add trip protection, satellite radio, GPS navigation, or other premium features, you can
inquire about these features with the rental dealer.
Will I be charged anything for modifying or cancelling a reservation?
No. There are no additional fees to cancel or modify a reservation.
However, keep in mind that modifications are subject to dealer and vehicle availability.
What is the toll processing fee?
Toll processing fees are subject to local rates and guidelines.
What are the trip protection coverage options for my rental?
Trip protection options will be covered with you within your rental agreement at the dealership.
You can choose to opt in or out at the time of rental.
4. Vehicles & Toyota App Features
What vehicles are available for rent via the Toyota app?
Vehicles available for rental reservation in the Toyota app are classified based on vehicle type. We cannot
guarantee color, trim package, add-ons, or specific vehicle model.
The following vehicle classes are available to choose from after selecting pick-up and drop-off time:
- Sedan (Avalon, Camry, Corolla, or similar)
- SUV (Highlander, RAV4, Sequoia, or similar)
- Minivan (Sienna)
- Truck (Tacoma, Tundra, or similar)
- Hybrid* (Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Avalon, Prius, Venza, or Sienna)
*Hybrid models may be available at select dealers depending on inventory
What features are included as standard in each Toyota rental?
Standard features for each vehicle can be found on Toyota.com.
Remember, we do not accept specifications for any additional features in the Toyota App, but you can always
call ahead with special requests.
Can I pick out specifics like exterior color and multimedia packages prior to arrival at the
dealership?
No. Within the Toyota app itself you will not be able to choose any of these options. We wish to keep the
reservation process within the app as simple and hassle-free as possible.
Will Toyota app let me pick insurance coverage plans for my trip?
No. We will not offer additional insurance coverage plans. The dealership you rent from will call your
insurance provider prior to your arrival to ensure you are covered.
Can I pay for my rental inside of the Toyota app?
No. Making payments through the Toyota app is not available at this time.
In the event you need to cancel or modify a reservation, you will not pay additional fees.
Does the Toyota app have the ability to start and stop my rental vehicle?
No. Rental vehicle start / stop management is not a feature included in this app version.
Will Toyota app allow me to upgrade or downgrade my rental vehicle class choice after I have already
confirmed my reservation?
If you would like to modify your vehicle class, follow the steps listed in previous sections related to
‘Modify Vehicle’.
We cannot guarantee color, trim package, add-ons, or specific vehicle model.
