Just as Toyota Motor Corporation demonstrated its "Pioneer Spirit" in 1997 with the development and launch of the Prius, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Mississippi has committed in its slogan to "Always Look for the Best Way, Using Our Pioneer Spirit." In late 2010, TMMMS, located in Blue Springs, will begin production of the Prius. This will be the first plant in the United States to build the Prius. With 1,700 acres and approximately 2,000 team members, TMMMS will have a start up capacity of 150,000 vehicles. Designated the North American model for a "sustainable plant," TMMMS will begin operations as a zero-landfill facility.
