How to Pair a Phone

Pairing your phone is the first step in connecting with your Toyota for hands-free calling and for audio streaming via Bluetooth® wireless technology.

How to Pair iPhone®
How to Pair Android

Pairing your phone is quick and easy: We've provided two options for you to choose from, depending on your knowledge of your phone's Bluetooth®  options.

I've Never Paired a Phone

If you've never paired your phone before or used Bluetooth®,  we'll walk you through the process step by step — using Toyota's new Connect website.

Click here for the Toyota Connect website.

I've Paired a Phone to Other Vehicles/Devices

For your safety, you can only pair a phone when the vehicle is stopped and in Park.

Note: "Press" refers to a physical button on your phone or the multimedia system faceplate. "Touch" refers to a button, command or menu drawn on the display touch-screen.

  5. Touch Accept on display touch-screen to pair. You may also need to select Pair on your phone to confirm pairing.
  6. A confirmation will appear that your phone has been paired

Bluetooth®  directions vary between phones. If you do not know how to access your phone's Bluetooth®  options, please refer to your phone's Owner's Manual for instructions.

How Do I Connect to the Internet?

Once you've paired your phone, you're connected for phone and for audio streaming via Bluetooth®  wireless technology. To connect to the Internet, which will allow you to use your phone’s data plan to access Entune® App Suite apps and data services, follow the procedure below after your phone is already paired with the multimedia system.

Two Ways to Connect Entune® App Suite

Wireless Connectivity:
All compatible Android phones connect wirelessly to all Entune® App Suite-enabled multimedia systems.

Cabled Connection:
Display Audio multimedia systems require all iPhones® to be cabled to the USB port. This requirement allows the Display Audio Entune system to operate with full functionality and it also recharges all iPhones®.

If you are using an iPhone®, start here.

  1. Connect your iPhone® to your vehicle using your iPhone® USB cable (other cords such as cigarette lighter adapter cords will not work with Entune® App Suite; you must use the USB connection)
  2. Make sure your phone is turned on and paired with vehicle. For instructions on how to pair, visit the Toyota Connect site.
  3. Check the battery life on your phone. To maximize the capabilities of the phone, not Entune® App Suite, your phone must have a minimum of a 50% battery charge. If your phone's battery is below 50%, please plug it into a power source before launching Entune® App Suite.
  4. Launch Entune® App Suite app on phone and sign in. Note: The first time you launch Entune® App Suite on your phone, sign in by entering your email address and the password you created when you registered at myentune.com or on the app. If you haven’t registered your Entune® App Suite account yet, please click here. If the Entune® App Suite connection is successful, the display touch-screen will confirm you want to connect to the Internet using your phone and that data charges apply. Touch Yes to continue.
  5. If you see a gray screen with the Entune® App Suite logo at the center and a red disconnect button at the bottom of the screen, Entune® App Suite is ready to be used in the vehicle. If you see rows of Entune® App Suite app icons, touch the setup icon (gear/wheel) at the bottom of your phone screen and then touch Connect to Vehicle.
  6. The display touch-screen will confirm you want to connect to the Internet using your phone and that data charges apply. Touch Yes to continue. Entune® App Suite is ready to be used in the vehicle.
    1. Entune® App Suite displays the APPS main page
    2. The phone app displays a lockout screen with the Entune® App Suite logo and a button to disconnect from Entune® App Suite

How to Pair iPhone®

Once you've registered on toyota.com/entune, it's time to pair your iPhone® to the vehicle to get started.

Make sure you've downloaded the Entune® App Suite app from the App StoreSM. When you do, remember to enter your email and password.

Next, set up your systems for Bluetooth® hands-free.

On the iPhone® from the main screen:

  1. Select Settings
  2. Select "Bluetooth"
  3. Ensure Bluetooth® is ON

On your Display Audio with Navigation and Entune® App Suite:

  1. Push the SETUP hard button on the multimedia system faceplate.

Verify and see that your phone is attempting to pair. It may ask you to enter a security code from the screen to confirm. A confirmation will appear that your phone has been paired and connected.

Once you're paired, your iPhone® and vehicle will use Bluetooth® and will require a USB cable connection to connect and operate Entune® App Suite.

So launch the Entune® App Suite app on your phone. The Entune® App Suite app must be the current, active application on the phone, and in a listening state.

And now you can enjoy the Entune® App Suite services in your new Toyota vehicle.

Please note:
If your Toyota is equipped with Display Audio, be sure to always plug the iPhone® USB cable into the iPhone®, and into your vehicle's USB console port.

Use of Entune® App Suite with an iPhone® requires cabling to the USB port while in use. This enables full functionality of the Entune® App Suite app, and charges your phone.

Merely connecting your iPhone® with the USB cable does NOT mean you've paired the phone. The steps outlined previously are required.
