Akio Toyoda, CEO, Master Driver
Before he was the global president of Toyota Motor Company, master driver Akio Toyoda and the late master driver and Akio’s mentor, Hiromu Naruse, created Gazoo Racing to fuel their passion to make ever-better cars. Through their experiences at the Nürburgring, they and their crew worked together to overcome challenges, and this know-how cultivated at the track ultimately found its way back, helping Gazoo Racing forge better machines.
History of Supra
With DNA sourced directly from the legendary 2000 GT, each and every Supra has shared the same core fundamentals: a powerful inline-six, Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and a modern chassis. As Toyota’s purest expression of performance, Supra has redefined the sports car time and time again.

Formula DRIFT
Toyota Gazoo Racing makes its presence known in Formula DRIFT as Fredric Aasbø gives GR Supra a victory in its debut race in St. Louis. Aasbø added a second victory of the season at Irwindale, becoming just the second driver to score two victories in the 2020 season. He finished fourth in the point standings. Ken Gushi also had a new Toyota GR Supra for the season. He had two final-eight finishes, including one at the season-closing race at his home track—Irwindale Speedway.
Papadakis Racing
Well-respected U.S. tuner Papadakis Racing has earned championships and achieved records across several sport compact racing disciplines. When Toyota announced the return of the GR Supra sports car nameplate to the model lineup, they were one of the first to take on modifying the Supra’s B58 inline 6-cylinder engine for racing, specifically for Formula DRIFT.
GR Supra GT4
Belonging to one of the world’s fastest-growing motorsports categories, with competitions around the globe, the GR Supra GT4 is ready to hit the ground running. This class of cars is composed mostly of what can be referred to as track day cars, which are factory-built race cars available to the public. Our GR Supra GT4 features a lightweight steel body with an inline 6-cylinder that produces 430 horsepower and a 7-speed sport automatic transmission. Inside, a high-strength roll cage, FIA-standard racing seat with 6-point harness, and a carbon-fiber instrument panel and steering wheel specifically designed for GT4 competition help take on races that can vary anywhere from two to four hours.
Supra Xfinity Series Race Car
With its ability to produce over 700 horsepower and unleash a roar that literally makes the earth quake, this purpose-built race car really gets our minds racing. Our teams at Calty Design and Toyota Racing Development worked hand in hand with NASCAR® to ensure the iconic race car shape was safe, powerful and ready to take this car to speeds in excess of 200 mph. Now in its third year of racing, three drivers, Brandon Jones, Harrison Burton, and Daniel Hemric, look for championship glory in 2021 aboard their Toyota Supras, while several others look to make their mark in limited starts as the NASCAR® Xfinity Series kicks off at Daytona.

2021 SEMA GR Supra Sport Top
Inspired by the MKIV targa models from the ‘90s, this one-off SEMA build pops the top off, for a look that would fit right in with the current-day GR Supra lineup.
GR Supra Autonomous Drifter
Researchers at Toyota Research Institute (TRI) and Stanford University’s Dynamic Design Lab have come together to build a self-driving GR Supra that does more than drift. While observing professional drivers on the track, researchers studied their advanced skills and translated them into sophisticated algorithms that control the car. With this new level of active safety technology, human driving abilities can be amplified to help avoid accidents.
