- The Toyota Mirai exhibits a fuel-cell electric powertrain with solid engineering; it uses a single permanent magnet AC synchronous electric motor that delivers an impressive output of 182 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft. of torque. In contrast, the Hyundai NEXO has a permanent magnet electric motor that delivers 161 horsepower and 291 lb.-ft output. of torque.
- The Toyota Mirai XLE comes standard with a rear-wheel drivetrain and a multi-link front and rear suspension. On the other hand, the Hyundai NEXO has front-wheel drive with an Independent MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension.
- The 2023 Toyota Mirai comes standard with three drive modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport. The 2023 Hyundai NEXO has Normal, Eco, and Eco Plus modes. Sport mode is not available on the NEXO.

- The Toyota Mirai has a standard wide 12.3-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia display equipped with 14 JBL® Premium Audio speakers, a subwoofer, and an amplifier. It seamlessly supports wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility. Additionally, a SiriusXM® 3-month Platinum Plan trial subscription is included. The Hyundai NEXO has a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen display with navigation. If you opt for the Limited trim, you get the KRELL® Premium Audio System with eight speakers and an amplifier.
- The Toyota Mirai comes with a 12V DC socket in the center console, as well as one USB media port and three USB charging ports. The Hyundai NEXO comes standard with two USB charging ports, a 12-volt outlet, and a 115V power outlet (A/C inverter).
- An auto-dimming rearview mirror and HomeLink® universal transceiver come standard with the Toyota Mirai XLE and the Hyundai NEXO.
- With the Toyota Mirai XLE, you can enjoy a trial of Wi-Fi Connect for up to 30 days or 3 GB of data. Mirai XLE and Limited grades come with a 3-year trial of Remote Connect, which allows you to control your vehicle from the palm of your hand, and a 10-year trial to Drive Connect, which includes Cloud Navigation with Google Points of Interest (POI) data, Intelligent Assistant with Hey, Toyota, and Destination Assist. Remote Connect and Drive Connect are available on the LE grade.

- The Toyota Mirai XLE comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5 (TSS 2.5), including Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA), Automatic High Beams (AHB), Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) and Road Sign Assist (RSA). The Hyundai NEXO comes standard with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection (FCA-Ped), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), High Beam Assist (HBA), Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go (SCC), Lane Following Assist (LFA), and Driver Attention Warning (DAW).
- The Toyota Mirai also comes with a standard Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) featuring Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) to detect vehicles in the blind spot. The Hyundai NEXO is equipped with Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) as a standard feature. However, the Blind-Spot Monitor is exclusively available on its Limited Trim.
- The Toyota Mirai comes with eight airbags, including driver and passenger front airbags, driver and front passenger side airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, and side curtain airbags. In comparison, the Hyundai NEXO comes with six airbags, including driver’s and passenger’s front airbags, side airbags, and front and rear side curtain airbags.
- Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) and Active Cornering Assist (ACA) are standard features on the Toyota Mirai. However, there's no mention of features like Hill Start Assist Control or Active Cornering Assist on the Hyundai NEXO's manufacturer's website.
- The Toyota Mirai comes standard with an anti-theft system featuring an alarm and engine immobilizer. Similarly, the Hyundai NEXO also comes standard with an anti-theft system with a panic alarm.
- The Toyota Mirai comes with an Electric Parking Brake (EPB) with a Brake Hold Function. Similarly, the Hyundai NEXO has an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB).
- A backup camera is included on the Toyota Mirai. A Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) with a 360-degree Overhead View in low-speed drive and reverse, and Curb View are available as add-ons. Comparably, the Hyundai NEXO comes with a Rear View Monitor. While a Surround View Monitor comes standard on the NEXO Limited trim, it’s not available on the base grade Hyundai NEXO.
- The Toyota Mirai is equipped with the Star Safety System™ which has Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) and Smart Stop Technology® (SST). - The Toyota Mirai XLE comes with an array of warranty plans, including Fuel-Cell-System-Related Component Coverage for eight years or 100,000 miles, a Basic Warranty for three years or 36,000 miles, a Corrosion Perforation Warranty for five years with unlimited miles, a Restraint System and Powertrain Limited Warranty for five years or 60,000 miles, a Hybrid Battery Warranty for ten years or 150,000 miles, and 24-hour Roadside Assistance for three years with unlimited mileage.
- The Hyundai NEXO provides a Hybrid/Electric Battery Warranty for ten years or 100,000 miles, a New Vehicle Limited Warranty for five years or 60,000 miles, a Powertrain Limited Warranty for ten years or 100,000 miles, an Anti-Perforation Warranty for seven years and unlimited miles, and 24/7 Roadside Assistance for five years and unlimited miles.
- The Toyota Mirai XLE comes with a Service Connect trial of up to 10 years. This service sends personalized maintenance updates and vehicle health reports. Also included is a Safety Connect® trial for up to 10 years, which includes an Emergency Assistance button, enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and Stolen Vehicle Locator.
- The Hyundai NEXO comes with a Bluelink® Connected Care Package for three years, which includes in-vehicle service reminders, service scheduling, diagnostic alerts, a Monthly Vehicle Health Report, and Enhanced Roadside Assistance. It also comes with a stolen vehicle locator.
- Every new Toyota Mirai comes with ToyotaCare, a maintenance plan that covers normal factory scheduled maintenance for three years or 35,000 miles, whichever comes first. The Hyundai NEXO coverage provides normal, factory-scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Design
- The Toyota Mirai XLE provides seating for five with fixed rear seats. It has a luxuriously designed cabin with a leather-trimmed interior. Heated SofTex®-trimmed front seats are a standard feature. Similarly, the Hyundai NEXO also has seating for up to five. It has vinyl-trimmed upholstery with vegan H-Tex® seating surfaces and heated front seats as standard.
- Dual Zone Automatic Climate Control is standard in both the 2023 Toyota Mirai and the Hyundai NEXO.
- The Toyota Mirai XLE comes standard with a leather-wrapped tilt/telescopic steering wheel with Bluetooth® hands-free phone and voice-command controls. The Hyundai NEXO also has a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel with Bluetooth® controls as standard features.
- An overhead console with dome lights, touch-activated map lights, sunglasses storage and SOS button, and UV-protected and water-repellent side windows are all standard on the Toyota Mirai. The Hyundai NEXO comes with LED overhead interior lights, solar front glass, and privacy glass on the rear side windows.
- The Toyota Mirai XLE has 19-in. twin-spoke aluminum alloy wheels, while the Limited trim comes with 19-in. black machine-finished aluminum alloy wheels and an optional upgrade to 20-in. Super Chrome-finished aluminum alloy wheels. In comparison, the Hyundai NEXO base trim has 17-in. alloy wheels, and the Limited trim has 19-in. alloy wheels.
- The Limited trim of the 2023 Toyota Mirai comes standard with a dual fixed Panoramic View Moonroof with power sliding shade, while the Limited trim of the Hyundai NEXO has a power tilt-and-slide sunroof.
- The Toyota Mirai Limited trim adds a touch of luxury with ambient lighting in eight colors and blue-illuminated footwells in front and rear. The Hyundai NEXO does not offer a similar feature.

- In terms of dimensions, the 2023 Toyota Mirai has an overall height of 57.9 inches, a length of 195.8 inches, and a width of 74.2 inches. In contrast, the Hyundai NEXO Blue has a height of 64.2 inches (the Limited trim is 64.6 inches), a length of 183.9 inches, and a width of 73.2 inches.

- The Toyota Mirai receives its power from an advanced polymer electrolyte fuel cell and delivers a power output of 182 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque compared to the Hyundai NEXO with a maximum output of 161 horsepower and 291 lb-ft of torque.
- The Toyota Mirai has a standard multi-information display with crisp graphics, JBL® Premium Audio and a variety of apps. It also has a Qi-compatible wireless charging pad and ambient lighting to enhance comfort and convenience. While the Hyundai NEXO has wireless charging for supported devices, it does not come with the other features.
- The Mirai XLE has a longer manufacturer-estimated driving range rating of 402 miles compared to the NEXO Blue version with a manufacturer-estimated 380-mile driving range rating and the Limited Edition with an estimated 354-mile driving range rating.
