We’re working towards a greener future.

Here’s how you can help.

If you received a letter in the mail recently, you've been invited to participate in a vehicle data collection program which will help us in developing sustainable communities across California.

Owners fifty-fifty image

The California Air Resources Board requires Toyota and Lexus to collect In-Use Monitor Performance Ratio (IUMPR) data from vehicles representative of California drivers and environmental conditions. This is where you can help.

Your vehicle is equipped with an On-Board Diagnostic (OBD-II) system that monitors emissions-related components. IUMPR tallies how many times those monitors ran.

The Process

Step One
Schedule an Appointment

Call the phone number listed on the letter to schedule an appointment. If you have a Yaris, fill out the survey included with your letter and send it back in the envelope provided.

An incentive will be provided on the spot.

What We Collect

During your appointment, we'll collect your VIN, control module
software IDs, odometer reading, and OBD IUMPR data.

Frequently
Asked
Questions

  • How long does it take?

Depending on the vehicle, the whole process should take 15 minutes or less.

  • Do I need to hand over the keys?

No. The vehicle will remain in your possession throughout the entire process.

  • Why is another company other than Toyota contacting me?

We work together with KETT Engineering and Automotive Testing & Development Services (ATDS). You may be contacted by Toyota, KETT, or ATDS associates depending on your vehicle and schedule.

  • Do you need to drive my car?

No. We only need the ignition in the "ON" position to communicate with the OBD system.

  • Why can't I have the dealership perform the task?

Each dealership is independently owned, and we currently do not have a process in place at every dealership to make the IUMPR data collection experience go smoothly for the customer.

  • Why can't I meet the data collector at a dealership?

Because the dealerships are independently owned, we are not able to schedule to meet at a dealership for the IUMPR activity. However, we will be happy to meet you at any other location of your preference.

  • How do you collect the data?

A laptop is connected to the OBD port underneath the driver's-side dash.

  • What kind of data are you collecting?

The data contains the vehicle identification number (VIN), control module software IDs, the odometer, and the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) monitor information. There is no personal information or vehicle performance data collected.

  • I have additional questions. Whom can I call?

Contact the phone number in the letter and let the person know you have a question about the OBD IUMPR letter you received.

  • When do I receive my incentive?

On the spot. As soon as the data download is completed.

  • I'm interested. How do I sign up?

Follow the instructions provided in the letter. If you did not receive a letter, we thank you for your interest but we are unable to test your vehicle.
