Performance

  • The Sienna comes standard with a hybrid engine and excellent fuel economy ratings.
  • Switch between driving modes in the Sienna when you want a little pickup or a fuel-efficient drive.
  • Take your adventures off the beaten path with the Sienna Woodland Edition.

Whether you're planning on carpooling or going camping, the 2022 Sienna has capabilities to handle roads that lie ahead.

A Van Made For You

You'll get the most out of your drive with Sienna's standard hybrid engine. Sienna models with Front-Wheel Drive have an EPA-estimated 36/36/36 (city/highway/combined) MPG rating. The Pacifica gas models with FWD have an EPA-estimated 19/28/22 (city/highway/combined) MPG rating. If you go with the 2022 Pacifica Hybrid, it has an EPA-estimated 82 MPGe.

For added control, the Sienna has Normal, Eco, EV, and Sport driving modes to select from. The Pacifica specs page doesn't mention selectable driving modes. However, the Pacifica Hybrid engine is engineered to automatically adjust to your driving for a more fuel-efficient ride.

Aside from engine performance, the Sienna also has adventure-ready features. The Sienna Woodland Edition comes with a lifted ride height, All-Wheel Drive, and standard roof rails with cross bars. Comparatively, the Pacifica Touring L and higher can include the available All-Wheel Drive. All models come with a standard roof rack but no cross bars or optimized ground clearance.

Safety

  • While both vehicles have loads of active safety features, only the Sienna includes a Road Sign Assist (RSA) feature.
  • Both vans received Top Safety Pick+ ratings for the 2021 model year.

There's no denying that both of these vans are safe choices for you and your whole family.

Standard Safety Features

The Sienna has Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 (TSS 2.0) active safety features, such as a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD), Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Road Sign Assist (RSA), and more.

You'll get comparable Pedestrian Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go (ACC+), LaneSense® Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, and Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking standard with the 2022 Pacifica. It does not include a Road Sign Assist feature, however.

For a comparison of how these vehicles perform in some representative crash modes, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) runs a series of tests and gives an overall safety rating. Based on ratings from the 2021 model year, both the Sienna and Pacifica received a Top Safety Pick+ designation from the IIHS. Ratings for 2022 are not yet available.
