Your vehicle is equipped with a front passenger occupant classification system. This system is designed to detect the conditions of the front passenger seat and activates or deactivates the devices for the front passenger. The AIR BAG ON or AIR BAG OFF indicator illuminates to keep the driver/front passenger advised of the system‘s status.

The Automatic High Beam (AHB) uses an in-vehicle camera sensor to assess the brightness of streetlights, the lights of oncoming and preceding vehicles, etc., and automatically turns the high beam on or off as necessary. The Automatic High Beam indicator will come on when the headlights are turned on automatically to indicate that the system is active.

This light also comes on when the parking brake is not released. If the light turns off after the parking brake is fully released, the system is operating normally.

The buzzer sounds to indicate that the parking break is still engaged (with the vehicle having reached a speed of 3 mph [5km/h]).

Use the cruise control to help maintain a set speed without depressing the accelerator pedal. Press the ON-OFF button to activate the cruise control. The cruise control indicator will be displayed. Press the button again to deactivate the cruise control.

Press the ON-OFF button to activate the cruise control.
Accelerate or decelerate the vehicle to the desired speed, and push the lever down to set the speed. The SET indicator will be displayed. The vehicle speed at the moment the lever is released becomes the set speed.

Use ECO Drive Mode to help achieve low fuel consumption during trips that involve frequent accelerating. When the ECO switch is pressed, the ECO MODE indicator comes on in the instrument cluster.

During ECO-friendly acceleration (ECO driving), the ECO Driving Indicator Light will turn on. If acceleration exceeds the ECO driving accelerator upper limit, or the vehicle is stopped, the light turns off.

The ECO Driving Indicator Light will not operate in the following conditions:

  • The shift lever is in anything other than D.
  • The paddle shift switch is used.*
  • The vehicle is in sport mode.*
  • The vehicle speed is approximately 80 mph (130 km/h) or higher.

The fog lights secure excellent visibility in difficult driving conditions, such as in rain and fog. When the fog light switch is in the D position, the fog light indicator comes on in the instrument cluster.

  • The light will flash quickly when the system is operating.
  • The light will turn on when the Pre-Collision System is disabled. 
  • The light will flash when the system cannot temporarily be used.

The radar sensor is designed to detect vehicles or other obstacles on or near the road ahead and determines whether a collision is imminent based on the position, speed, and heading of the obstacles. The PCS warning light turns on when pre-collision system is disabled.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) supplements conventional cruise control with a vehicle-to-vehicle distance control. In vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode, the vehicle automatically accelerates or decelerates in order to help maintain a set following distance from vehicles ahead. Press the ON-OFF button to activate the cruise control. Radar cruise control indicator will be displayed. Press the button again to deactivate the cruise control.

Warns the driver and/or front passenger to fasten their seatbelts.

Fasten the seatbelt. If the front passenger‘s seat is occupied, the front passenger‘s seatbelt also needs to be fastened to make the warning light (warning buzzer) off.

This indicator light flashes after the engine switch has been turned off to indicate that the system is operating. The indicator light stops flashing after the engine switch has been turned to ACCESSORY or IGNITION ON mode to indicate that the system has been canceled.

When the light comes on:

Low tire inflation pressure

Correction procedure:


Adjust the tire inflation pressure to the specified level.
The light will turn off after a few minutes. In case the light does not turn off even if the tire inflation pressure is adjusted, have the system checked by your Toyota dealer.

Warning light/details:


When the light comes on after blinking for 1 minute:
Malfunction in the tire pressure warning system.

Correction procedure:

Have the system checked by your Toyota dealer.

Avalon-2013-{{imageAltName}}TRAC OFF indicator (U.S.A.)

If the vehicle gets stuck in mud, dirt or snow, the TRAC system may reduce power from the engine to the wheels. Pressing the switch to turn the system off may make it easier for you to rock the vehicle in order to free it. To turn the TRAC system off, quickly press and release the switch. The TRAC OFF indicator light should come on and a message will be shown on the multi-information display. Press the switch again to turn the system back on.

Indicates that one of the turn signals has been activated.

Turn signals can be operated when the engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode. If the indicator flashes faster than usual, check that a light bulb in the front or rear turn signal lights has not burned out.

To turn the TRAC/VSC systems off, press and hold the switch for more than three seconds while the vehicle is stopped. The VSC OFF and TRAC OFF indicator lights will come on and the message will be shown on the Multi-Information Display. Press the switch again to turn the systems back on.

Should a safety system light such as the ABS and SRS airbag warning lights not come on when you start the hybrid system, this could mean that these systems are not available to help protect you in an accident, which could result in death or serious injury. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer immediately if this occurs.

Dashboard icons are displayed in a variety of colors, depending on the system and its status in a specific vehicle. Yellow icons indicate an item of importance (such as low fuel), but are not necessarily a warning.
