EPA-Estimated MPGe [epa_2018_prime_mpge]
What is MPGe?
This helps compare the mileage of driving in EV Mode [prime_hybrid_caution] to the commonly used mpg figure for gas vehicles. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) uses the mpg equivalent (MPGe) figure to convert the measurement of power used by plug-in hybrid vehicles, electric vehicles and others not powered by liquid fuels into something that resembles the more familiar mpg rating. So, Prius Prime boasts an EPA-estimated 133 MPGe [epa_2018_prime_mpge] when driving in EV Mode [prime_hybrid_caution] — an outstanding figure for plug-in hybrid vehicles. For more information on MPGe and range, please see fueleconomy.gov.
