We have world-class design, research and development facilities throughout the U.S., from Texas to Michigan, Arizona to California. That’s in addition to thousands of the brightest thinkers from all across America who call those facilities home. This is where beauty meets brains. At our Calty Design Research facilities in Ann Arbor, San Francisco and Newport Beach, some of the most innovative minds in the automotive industry are creating exquisite exterior and interior designs for everything from cutting-edge Scion concept vehicles to our flagship ’13 Avalon.
Calty Design Research has contributed to the design of 35 production models – from the 1978 Celica to the 1997 Prius and on to the 2013 Avalon. Calty designers have also helped to create 20 concept vehicles since 1977, ranging from the then-futuristic F100 to the 2006 Scion FUSE and the 2012 Fun-Vii. With design studios in Ann Arbor, Michigan as well as California’s Newport Beach and San Francisco, Calty has more than 100 team members and represents a $4.9 million investment.3
For almost 40 years, Toyota Motor North America Research and Development (TMNA Research and Development), a division of Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) has been the driving force behind Toyota's North American engineering and research & development activities. Headquartered in York Township, Michigan, TMNA Research and Development engineers, scientists and technicians primarily work in three main areas: product development, advance research and evaluation & crashworthiness. In June of 2015, Toyota’s commitment to drive more local decision-making and ultimately faster, more precise response to the needs of the marketplace, led to an expansion announcement to the York Township campus to incorporate Purchasing operations. This investment will intensify Toyota’s engineering, product development and procurement capabilities and the impact will be felt by our customers through enhanced quality, adoption of new technologies and even greater value of the vehicles we produce.
Toyota Research Institute, North America (TRINA) is working to discover the next generation core technology. By focusing on Energy & Environment, Social Structure and Humanity, this team of researchers and scientists represents brainpower, diligence and passion. The innovations introduced by these leaders show that we’re not just keeping pace–we’re helping to set the pace.

Toyota Engineering & Manufacturing (TEMA) is headquartered in Erlanger, Kentucky with major operations in Arizona, California and Michigan, is responsible for our engineering design and development, R&D and manufacturing activities in the U.S., Mexico and Canada. TEMA is also responsible for manufacturing plants across North America, with locations in Alabama4, Indiana, Kentucky4, Texas and many more.
Based in Torrance, California, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. Inc. (TMS) supports 1,500 Toyota, Lexus and Scion dealerships in the U.S., ensuring that the needs of both driver and dealer are accommodated throughout the sales process.

As our finance arm, Toyota Financial Services (TFS) has helped millions of people get to a very good place: into the driver’s seat of one of our vehicles. Working with participating Toyota and Scion dealers, TFS offers a full range of lease, purchase and protection plans, and, of course, the friendly, attentive service our customers deserve. Headquartered in Torrance, California, TFS serves customers and dealers with 3,300 associates among three customer service centers, three regional offices and 30 dealer sales and service offices throughout America.3
